#4 - SEPTEMBER 3, 2023

Dear Parents,

We want to thank all PS parents who joined us at Open House last Thursday. The sense of community and family within PS is truly heartwarming. Our teachers were thrilled to share valuable moments with you, and we appreciate your active participation.

Starting this week, after-school activities begin on Monday, September 4th. We kindly ask you to remind your children about their scheduled activities for each day. This gives our students confidence in knowing where to go.

We encourage you to scroll through all the CCN to stay informed about updates, upcoming events, and important dates.

Thank you for your continued support!

Paula

Transportation Message

Dear all:

According to the beginning of the bus pass service below you will find the corresponding information:

1. The bus pass service will start from Sept 1st.

2. The school must receive the bus passes until 11:00 a.m.

3. The families have to request the bus pass by email, in the past Primary and Elementary managed this service in that way, regarding this a monitor will pass to the offices at 11:30 a.m to pick up the passes.

4. The bus passes are authorized at the 2:30 pm and 3:45 pm schedules departure.

We clarify that students that do not belong to the transportation service, their parents have to request it by the mentioned option before (Email) and they have to make the payment of $23.000 COP.

5. Additionally, we confirm to you that only students can take a companion with them on the bus, if they belong to the transportation service, a bus pass should only be made with the prior request of the families to the school, if they do not belong to the regular transportation service, the family must make the request to the school and must pay the ticket of $23.000 COP each trip.

Yearbook (Andean) Photos

We are thrilled to inform you that our upcoming yearbook (Andean) photo day is approaching fast! On this day, students are not required to wear their formal uniforms. If they have a P.E. class that day, they are welcome to come to school dressed in the CNG sweatpants and hoodie. Your child´s homeroom teacher will let you know the date, but keep in mind pictures will be happening during September 12, 13, and 14.

House Sweatshirts/T-Shirts

We would like to let you know that, for the time being, students are not allowed to wear house sweatshirts and/or t-shirts on Fridays. We will let you know once this is allowed. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Pokemon Cards

Starting Friday, Sept. 8th, PS students will be allowed to bring Pokemon cards to school. Please have your children follow these guidelines: They can only bring them on Fridays and may play with them during recess times, not on the bus, during class times, specialists, or lunch in the cafeteria. Teachers or administrators have full authority to suspend trading if problems arise. Please also be aware that the school is not responsible for lost or misplaced cards.

We would like to kick off the Proyecto Vida program this year with a parent session in the Cafetorium on September 13 from 7:15-8:15. We will be sharing detailed information about this valuable, parent-led character education program. We hope you can all join us!

Proyecto Vida/Parenting for Life is an interactive program that involves parents/guardians in Character for Life, CNG´s cross disciplinary and comprehensive approach, to purposefully shape our students’ character in alignment with our Core Values. The lessons are carried out with the participation of parent volunteers from each classroom through small skits and activities.

Outside of School Hours Pick up at Gate:

For the safety and convenience of all, we ask parents to pick up their children outside of school hours at the main gate. Students will stay in their classrooms until you’ve arrived.

When picking up your child:

  • Please be punctual and arrive at the specified time.

  • Let the guards know you’ve arrived and they’ll inform the PS office.

  • Stay in your vehicle while your child walks out. Keep in mind this might take a few minutes, so plan accordingly

  • While on campus, we kindly request that you wait at the PS office instead of proceeding directly to your child's classroom. This helps minimize disruptions to the instructional time. Thank you for your understanding.

Schedule

Friendship Challenge

We will begin our Friendship challenge once again. We are encouraging students to invite other PS students who they still do not know well. They can take pictures and share them with their teachers, so we can share them in the Theater during our Award's Assemblies.

Hello PS Families!

Receive a warm welcome from the Primary School Counseling Team. We want to share with you some exciting news. This year we will continue taking advantage of an amazing school partnership: Character Strong. Each month we will focus on a value and we will be providing links and resources from the Character Strong website that can give you ideas on how you as a family can reinforce that month’s value at home. Additionally, we will be working at school with that same value. The way we will be sharing the resources is as follows: The first week of the month, we will share a resource regarding that value. The second week will focus on a family challenge, or PurposeFull Pursuit, unique to each grade in which you as families can get involved in supporting your children’s character education. The third week we will provide a link to a read aloud related to the value so you can share as a family. Finally, we will have our CELEBRATION OF VALUES week in which we will be sharing everyone’s hard work.

This month we will be practicing and learning about RESPECT. Feel free to share with us how you as a family practice respect throughout the month. You can send pictures, videos and stories of you carrying out this month’s PurposeFull Pursuits as a family. You can also send us other ways of how you show this value. Please send these to nicolas.adams@cng.edu. These will be published in the CCN at the end of the month to show pride for our Character Strong students! Hooray!

We also  want to share with you a document explaining the Character Strong / PurposeFull People Program. Please access the following link

Additionally, you can access this link for sing-a-long about respect that you can share with your child to open up a conversation on respect.

Sincerely,

Li, Nico and Vero
