#34 - MAY 3, 2024
Dear Primary School Families,
We're thrilled to share that our K4 and K5 students participated in a special integration activity with FHNG students that brought our two communities together. Also, we were honored to have Dr. Frank Volpe visit our PS building, where he had the chance to take a sneak peek into some of our classrooms. Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community. Let's finish this year on a positive note!

Parent University: “It Starts with Me” (Part 2) By: Vicky Chehebar Ready for the next round of our Parent University space? This time, we're diving deeper into the emotional side of parenting – the stuff that holds us back from giving our kids the freedom they need to grow. We'll talk about these challenges and brainstorm ways to create a supportive environment for our little ones to thrive. It's all about connecting, learning, and becoming the parents we want to be.
Date: Wednesday, May 8th NOTE: Parent Universities are hybrid (Zoom and in person). This is the Zoom LINK. (Meeting ID: 957 8599 2583 and Access Code: : 403388). *Please note there is NO available parking on campus, so please plan accordingly to make the necessary arrangements in order to arrive to school. |

PLACEMENT This is the time when families begin to wonder about classroom placement for next year. In this letter, you will find our Student Classroom Assignment Protocol. We truly believe this protocol is a necessary and vital characteristic for creating a school environment that is equitable and thriving. Our configuration model is focused on equity. Whereas in the past, we tried to honor parent classroom assignment requests, this practice resulted in unbalanced classrooms in some grade levels, and created tension within our community. Primary School’s assignment policy is a class configuration model based on the following factors, and formed through collaboration with general education classroom teachers, co-teachers, specialist teachers, counselors, and instructional coaches:
This policy is based on the belief that all of our teachers have gifts and talents to meet the needs of every child at CNG. Your child’s current teacher knows your student’s instructional strengths, social and emotional needs, which students they work best with, or students from whom they need to be separated. As a school, we do not make these decisions lightly, and all of our decisions are based on this belief. Ultimately, we believe our children are adaptable, will thrive and develop resiliency in any environment, and will make friends wherever they are placed. Again, these decisions will be based on ensuring a balanced and equitable distribution of students across the grade levels. We will not be honoring any individual placement requests at this time, so please do not reach out to staff with those placement requests. We also want to emphasize to you that in this process, it is the administration who are making the final decisions. Thank you for your understanding and trust. We truly appreciate your support. |
