GIFTED & TALENTED IN HIGH SCHOOL
IDEA is a program that has been designed to meet the needs of the identified Gifted students at CNG. Through this program, we offer enrichment and extension courses that meet the academic needs of gifted students. The program will enhance students’ creative, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and help them develop independent study skills and the research abilities needed to be effective self-directed learners.
IDEA INVESTIGATION
STEAM 9-12
GTP112 0.5 credit
IDEA Investigation is a one semester course where students will strengthen their research skills through a problem-solving based curriculum. The class will have a mentorship component where students will be paired with CNG mentor network members to work on practical applications and future career interests.
This class will count as a 0.5 credit of Art, Tech or Science.
Prerequisites: Course is available to students who have met
the criteria of the CNG Gifted & Talented identification process.
IDEA EXPLORATION
HUMANITIES 9-12
GTP113 0.5 credit
The IDEA Exploration is a one semester course where students will work on their academic writing skills through a common text and develop independent projects, based on a chosen theme. The class will help students improve their writing and research skills.
This class will count as a 0.5 credit of Social Studies or Character for Life.
Prerequisites: Course is available to students who have met the
criteria of the CNG Gifted & Talented identification process.
