CHANGES IN PREAP COURSE DESIGNATION
The College Board started a pilot program for select international schools in which certification is required for all courses that include the ‘PreAP’ moniker in the course title.
CNG sees the value of having all students take certified PreAP™ courses to prepare for the AP courses they may plan to take in high school. Therefore, in high school we have begun to transition our current regular classes to become College Board certified PreAP™ courses that all CNG students will take. Students will also have the option of taking the ‘Honors’ version of the PreAP™ course, which requires students to take a deeper, more robust dive into applying the course content and standards at an accelerated pace.
This transition started with the incoming 9th grade class for the 2021-2022 school year with additional PreAP courses included in subsequent years. For those courses where the moniker was removed, and the class is not scheduled to be certified PreAP™ until later, we will designate those as ‘Honors’ courses. Only Honors-designated courses and AP courses will carry the 0.3-grade point increase.
Below you can see the timeline for the adoption of the College Board PreAP™ classes.
