OUR S&L THERAPY PROGRAM

OVERVIEW

Speech and Language professionals carry out diagnostic evaluations, brief screenings and collaborate with teachers and other school professionals in order to identify students in need of therapeutic interventions or who may need focused activities at home or in the classroom to stimulate their language development. SLT work with students, teachers, parents, and can support students both in the classroom and in individual sessions in order to help each student develop the language skills needed to support learning.

OUR THERAPISTS

  • Are bilingual nationally-and internationally-certified professionals with specialized degrees in Speech and Language in educational environments.
  • Use standardized valid assessment measures to gather information that guide therapeutic interventions and classroom intervention and supports.
  • Screen students in order to identify students at risk of language and communication difficulties.
  • Work with students who need to develop the expressive and receptive language skill needed for social and academic performance.
  • Develop alternative systems of communication for students who have not developed oral language skills in order to allow them to communicate and participate in social and learning environments.
  • Lead social skills groups for students in need of explicit small group instruction to develop better social competencies.

SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPY

  • Help to develop language functions that lead to effective communication skills.
  • Enhance students articulation, vocabulary, language meaning and language structure, that can support students strong and ef cient expression and understanding.
  • Stimulates cognitive skills required for learning such as memory, verbal and non verbal reasoning, cognitive integration, processing, and perceptual accuracy.
  • Builds the essential language skills needed for a strong literary development.
  • Teaches pragmatic and social skills needed for effective social interactions.
