Colegio Nueva Granada: Confucius Institute

The CNG Confucius Classroom (CNG CC) promotes the studey of Chinese language, culture, ethics, and philosophy among the CNG community. Founded in October 2009, the CNG CC was the first of its kind to be established in a school in Latin America.

In CNG the Confucius Classroom strives to

• provide Chinese language and culture classes to students from Elementary to High School as well as to the CNG Staff;
• organize cultural and educational events to further the understanding of China in the CNG community;
• support the development of stronger educational, cultural, and commercial links between Colombia and China;
• develop and promote teaching research in Chinese studies; and
• include the HSK (Chinese Language Proficiency Examination) Center in the students' learning process.

Confucius Institute Scholarships

The Confucius Institute Scholarship was established by the Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing with the goal of encouraging students and teachers worldwide, who are studying or teaching Chinese as a second language, to study or conduct research in Chinese language and culture in China. In order to be elegible to apply for this scholarship, students must be enrolled in a Confucius Institute Classroom worldwide and demonstrate excellent achievement. 

Eighteen CNG students have been awarded full scholarships to study in China since 2009.
