LOGOTYPE
Colegio Nueva Granada’s logotype is composed of the school’s acronym using Garamond Bold font, which is also used in the school’s original shield. Given our motto “Honored Tradition & Visionary Future”, the logo was recently redesigned to hold up a more modern and solid visual identity as well as a sonorous reference to the way the school is known internationally (CNG) while still commending tradition by keeping the typography used in the shield.
Note: there should be two “x” units of empty space on each corner of the box the logotype will be contained in.
VARIATIONS
It is possible to use one of the following variations of the CNG logotype for any internal communications. Keep in mind that for any external communications only the short version of the logotype should be used. The words “NUEVA GRANADA” should always be capitalized.
SHIELD
The school’s shield must be used only in institutional publications such as diplomas, presentation cards, official invitations, publications from the directives, plaques, and recognition pieces.
FONTS
The main font family for the logotype is Garamond Bold. In the variations of the logo where the full school name is visible Garamond Italic is used for the word “Colegio” and Garamond Bold is used for the words “NUEVA GRANADA”.
Complementary fonts for institutional publications and stationary are:
COLOR PALLETS
Color is one of the most important style elements in the impact and distinction of visual identity. Colegio Nueva Granada has a chromatic range that consists of both a primary and secondary color pallet. The use of each of these pallets depends on the type of communication and graphic design of the piece. Proper use of these color pallets is indispensable to maintain the brand’s identity.
Main Pallet
The dark blue shade in this pallet is the official color of the school’s logo and it is the shade that should be used for any external communications and institutional publications. The white tone should be used in the negative application of the logo over other tones within the first and secondary pallets as well as over any kind of image that provides good contrast. The light blue tone is the color of the CNG flag and may be used in institutional publications.
Secondary Pallet
Secondary colors should be complementary and used in order to bring contrast to the logo in backgrounds or other graphic elements that are a part of the visual key. These colors may also be applied to categorize different publications (in print or otherwise) that are generated by the school as well as in signaling elements around the school grounds. The black and grey shades should be used primarily for photocopies and black and white printing.
APPLICATIONS OF THE COLOR PALLETS
It is important to use the CNG logotype and its variations adequately and only as specified in this manual. Ideally the variations of the logo should be used in color or over a colored background. The versions of the logotype that are on a scale of grey are recommended for use only in photocopies.
SOME INADEQUATE USES OF THE IMAGE
* Any change in color of the logotype is allowed only for internal use in the following cases: when there is no choice but to switch to different color pallets and when printing using a single tone (and just when the logo is used in its negative form and cannot be adapted to the design requirements). Any color change in the logotype must be authorized by the Department of Publications and Multimedia Services.
