CNG Housing Handbook 2025-2026

GENERAL HOUSING POLICY

CNG’s Human Resources Department is committed to providing high-quality and equitable housing to all international faculty.

CNG provides all international staff members an apartment in accordance with CNG’s quality and safety standards. These standards refer mainly to the condition of the property:

  • Building should be in good condition.

Building should be a short distance from CNG’s premises, at least during the first year.

  • The apartment’s walls, floors, and fixed appliances should be in very good condition.

  • Windows and doors should be secure and work properly.

Safety standards to be met refer to:

  • Building should have 24-hour security.

  • At least during the first year, the neighborhood should be close to the campus, which is why we strive to locate our international staff in the surroundings of CNG (Chapinero Alto/Rosales Area).

  • Apartments provided by CNG are usually 1 or 2 bedroom**,** with at least 2 bathrooms (mandatory requirement). These apartments are leased directly by CNG for 12 months. All negotiations MUST be done by the School. The School will do its best to meet most international staff requirements; however, please keep in mind that apartment assignment is based on availability.

  • These apartments can only be used for housing purposes, not commercial purposes, and cannot be sublet.

  • If an staff member has any specific requirement due to a health condition (allergy, asthma, or other) or in case an staff member takes a pet, HR should be advised as soon as possible in order to allocate the best possible property that meets these specific needs.

  • Renting furnished apartments is not allowed.

  • The housing allowance provided by CNG covers the cost of monthly rent and the monthly administration fee (gastos de administración) charged by the building, unless the staff member decides to go over the budget.

  • Rent increases every year by a percentage equivalent to the increase established by the co-ownership or inflation. This increase is negotiated during the renewal process of the lease contract for the following year.

  • Administration fees/building expenses increase every year as well, usually in January. The increase is based on: the owners’ board (they usually meet in March–April), the increase in the cost of living (IPC) provided by the National Bank, or the increase in minimum wage. Normally, we are informed of the increase sometime in March/April, so we may need to make a retroactive payment. You will be notified by the HR office of your administration fee increase as the data becomes available.

The administration fee bill is issued monthly and will be sent to your apartment or given to you by the doorman. Please bring this bill to HR so we can arrange the payment, or send it to Marcela Fernández at dmfernandez@cng.edu.
