#17 - DECEMBER 6, 2024
Dear PS Families,
On Tuesday, we invite you to join us for Coffee with the Principal, and on Friday, we will be celebrating our second House Family Day. Please encourage your child to wear their House T-shirt or hoodie to show their school spirit. We are excited to see our House families come together and learn more about what RESPONSIBILITY looks like. Also, please remember that Friday is the last day for after-school activities before the holiday break.
Warm regards,
Paula
PS Book Drive
This holiday season, we are excited to announce that Primary School will be having a Book Drive. The goal is to ensure that children who do not have access to books, have the opportunity to get one during the Holidays and feel the warmth of this special time of year, spreading joy and the gift of reading to those who need it most.
Starting next week (December 9th), students can bring in new or used books (both accepted as long as they are in good condition). While we encourage books in Spanish, books in English will be accepted too! Books can be dropped off in a designated box in their homeroom classroom until December 18th.
Encourage your child to participate and donate books that can inspire and brighten someone’s holiday. Every book counts, and together we can make a difference in these children’s lives.
Thank you for your support and generosity!
Social Skills in Primary School
In Primary School apart from teaching very important skills like reading, writing, math, science, we invest a lot of time in teaching our kids social skills. We constantly have many learning opportunities which our counselors, teachers and staff work with, so we can show kids how to be assertive, respectful, include everyone, etc. We want to kindly ask you to please let us know if you need us to help you or your child with something that he or she tells you about at home. Calling other kids´ parents makes the problem bigger and usually much more difficult to solve. Please make sure to discuss these “issues” with school staff and not in social events or with other parents. Please remember that young children's mistakes related to social skills or discipline are confidential and need to be discussed with school staff only on a need to know basis and not with other families. Just as we're asking our kids to practice the value of integrity at school, this is a perfect way to model it at home.
Coffee with the Principal
We’d like to invite you to our next Coffee with the Principal! It’s a great opportunity to connect and discuss important topics. To help us prepare, we’ve attached a Google survey link where you can share any topics you’d like to discuss with us. We look forward to seeing you there!
Date: Tuesday, December 10th
Time: 7:05-8:05am
Location: MPR (Elementary Building)
House Families
On Friday, December 13th, we will celebrate our second PS house family day focused on the core value of RESPONSIBILITY. All students are welcome to wear their house t-shirts and/or hoodies for this very special celebration. Students will participate in an activity about how their actions can help everyone in our class and school. When you take care of your responsibilities, it makes our whole group stronger and happier!
Grandparents/Grandfriends Day-Student´s photo
Grandparents Day was a wonderful success, and it was beautiful to see everyone come together to celebrate. If by any chance, grandparents/grandfriends did not receive the photo of the child, please email Evelyn Moyano: evelyn.moyano@cng.edu.
Last Day of School Before the Holiday Break Information
Friday, December 20th, will be the last day before the holiday break. Please note that this will be a full day and a Day 6 on our six-day rotation.
Additionally, we would like to inform you that there will be no party buses or bus passes on this day. However, gate passes will be available.
Lost & Found
Please take a moment to look at the Lost & Found Repository for any misplaced items.
There are many lunch boxes, shoes, bags, and over 110 water bottles!
If you identify something belonging to your child, email Laura at the Reception Desk (lauram.torres@cng.edu) with the item description and your student's name and grade, and she will help coordinate pickup.
VERY IMPORTANT: Please mark all your child's belongings with their name; it's the only way lost items can be returned to students.
