CNG HALLOWEEN COSTUME GUIDELINES

Hashtag to image Halloween:

Students come to school with costumes on. It's impractical and disruptive for students to leave class to put on makeup or costumes.

  • For safety reasons, full head or face masks are not to be worn.

  • We are promoting an inclusive event.  For this reason, students should welcome others to join their costume group.  For example, if a group wants to dress as “Minions”, any student who wants to join the group should be allowed to do so.

  • Students are not to be told they can not be part of a larger group. Students who violate this requirement may face consequences, up to and including being held out of the event.

  • We are attempting to help our students become peacemakers. For this reason, no terrorist or guerrilla costumes, or costumes that show violence, are allowed.

  • No sharp objects, fake knives, swords or weapons. Look-alike or fake weapons are never allowed at school.

  • No roller blades, scooters, live animals, or skateboards are allowed.

  • Students need to be able to participate in all activities so please dress suitably.

  • Spray cans need to be left at home (I.E., do not send cans of hairspray, makeup, hair color, fake blood, string, etc.).

  • Students need to be appropriate, which means no clothing with inappropriate messages, and should still fall within CNG Out of Dress Code Guidelines for decency and appropriateness for school.

  • Be respectful of all religions, cultures, ethnicities and political views.

PS Library- General Information

We are very excited to welcome you to your Primary School Library! We have a wide range of books, both fiction and non-fiction, that YOU and your children will enjoy. In order for parents and students to make the most of what our library has to offer, here is some important information:

Library Hours:

The PS Library opens at 7:00 a.m. every day and closes at 2:15 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays and at 3:20 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Student Check Out:

K-4: Between August and December every student will check out one book to keep in the classroom library. In January, students will start checking out ONE book to take home under their names.

K5-2nd: Students will start checking out one, two, and three books respectively to take home from the first day of Library class.

Please remind your child to bring book(s) back to school on Library day. It is important for children to trade their books on their assigned day to encourage good library habits and enjoy a variety of topics. Books may be renewed unless they have been placed on hold by another patron.

Fines:

There are no fines for overdue materials returned within 35 days of the checkout date. However, if a book is not returned within this period, the replacement cost will be forwarded to the financial department and added to the next billing cycle. Lost or damaged books incur a replacement fee of $60,000 pesos or may be replaced for the SAME TITLE in HARDCOVER format. Additionally, we kindly recommend placing library books in a plastic bag inside students' backpacks to help prevent damage from liquids.

Parents/ Guardians Check Out:

You may borrow up to 10 books from the PS Library either in person or through our webpage. In this case, books must be placed on hold here logging in with your username (email) and your password (cédula/passport number). We will deliver them to your child’s classroom. In case you are not familiar with this process, please take a minute to watch this presentation that will show you how to  Place Books on Hold .

Please keep in mind it is necessary to have a library account in order to check books out. If you do not have one yet, please take a moment to follow these instructions on our homepage: Library Account Form

Books may be borrowed for 3 weeks before becoming overdue and these may be renewed unless they have been placed on hold by another patron. We will let you know if that is the case.

Online Resources:

Our CNG Libraries provide students with digital encyclopedias and reading platforms that are safe, updated, and user friendly. Children can benefit from these reliable tools for homework, research, and presentations. We truly hope you can help your child take advantage of these amazing resources.

Since these digital databases are for CNG’s private use, you will need to log in using your library account. Please take a moment to watch the video on how to access the Digital Encyclopedias.

On our homepage you will also find e-Books to enjoy anytime from home. Please take a moment to see our video on Follet e-Books. Furthermore, on our homepage you will find e-Books in Spanish on our platform named MakeMake. The instructional video is inside its box next to the logo on the homepage.

For questions please contact me or Maria Margarita, my co-teacher.

Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Hello PS Families!

Congratulations to all of you who tried out different ways to practice and reinforce respect throughout this month, whether it was with the family challenge, read alouds, or other ways you might have as a family to celebrate this important value. This month, we didn’t receive pictures of families showing respect. This is totally voluntary. However, we would love to make this a community wide celebration. Therefore, we encourage you to send pictures for the upcoming value. In the meantime, we will brainstorm different ways we can celebrate at the end of each four week cycle.

Sincerely,

Li, Lau, Juli and Vero

Hello PS Families!

Dear Parents,

Halloween is a time filled with fun, creativity, and a sense of community. It’s a season where children get to explore their imaginations, dressing up in costumes and sharing the excitement with their peers. However, while Halloween is a joyful celebration, it also presents a valuable opportunity for us, as parents, teachers, and role models, to guide our students in fostering a caring and inclusive environment.

Group costumes, class activities, and school events should be welcoming to everyone. As educators and caregivers, we have the responsibility to ensure that no child feels left out or uncomfortable. Inclusivity means being mindful of the diversity within our classrooms and communities, respecting different cultures, beliefs, and financial backgrounds. It’s important to remind children that it’s not about how elaborate or expensive a costume is, but the fun of participation, creativity, and being together.

We can encourage our students to be thoughtful and kind when planning group costumes, making sure everyone feels included and no one is singled out. This could mean checking in with classmates to see if everyone has access to a costume or if someone needs help with ideas. Group participation should be fun and light-hearted, not something that adds stress or pressure.

By guiding our students in these moments, we help create an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. After all, the true spirit of Halloween lies in coming together, celebrating diversity, and making sure no one is left on the sidelines.

Let’s work together this Halloween season to foster kindness, empathy, and inclusivity in our schools and communities!
