CWW TEAM PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Kia Ora, my name is Nicolette Was. I have a bachelor's degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management from Lincoln University, New Zealand which paved the way to work as a wilderness guide in various companies as well as to work with Adventure Canterbury as an outdoor activity specialist. After working for the United States Forest Service as an intern with my own fur bearing mammal study I went back to Lincoln University and completed a Masters in Ecological Sciences. While working on my masters I supported many different ecological research projects.

Since moving to Colombia in the year 2000 I have worked in 3 different schools and been an author for bilingual textbooks focused in Earth Science. Whilst in Colombia I have completed an Especialización en Ciencias Desde la Perspectiva de la Construcción del Conocimiento from the Universidad Javeriana and a Post Graduate Diploma in Teacher Leadership from Lehigh University.

I have been working at CNG since 2004. 17 of those years I was a middle school science teacher, and since the year 2020 I have been the CWW and Educational Field Trips Director. I love this position as it allows me to combine all of my previous experiences and my passion for the outdoors and culture and ensure students have a meaningful experience as they explore the different parts of Colombia.

My name is Laura Rincon. I have a bachelor's degree in Modern Languages from the Universidad Javeriana, where I had the opportunity not only to learn and develop skills related to the educational field, but also to deepen on some of my hobbies such as hiking and cycling which are currently part of my job and lifestyle. I have also studied cultural journalism and cultural and creative management which has guided me to explore and understand Bogotá and its cultural agenda. I work as an administrative assistant in the CWW office. I love working at CNG because I get to do the things I really enjoy with students, I get the chance to share things I know about, and learn new other things from them and people from the community in general.
