Colegio Nueva Granada: Fact Sheet

 

 

- Colegio Nueva Granada (CNG) is a private co-educational day school founded in 1938 to provide students (K4-12) with a U.S. oriented college preparatory education.

- CNG has implemented and maintains a Quality Management System which fulfills the requirements of the standard ISO 9001:2000 as certified by the IQNet and ICONTEC.

- CNG is organized in four schools: Primary School (Kinder 4, Kinder 5, 1st and 2nd grade), Elementary School (3rd, 4th and 5th grades), Middle School (6th, 7th and 8th grades) and High School (9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades).

- Both the High School and the Colombian Bachillerato diplomas are offered at CNG.

- 98% of the students that graduate from CNG attend college or university.

- The average class size is of 20 students. The maximum class size is 23

- All classes in CNG are taught in English except Colombian social studies and Spanish.

- Formal Advanced Placement courses are offered in 20 subjects.

 

 

- Student Services provides specialized support for students with special needs and learning difficulties.

- The school campus and activities are all smoke-free environments.

- The CNG school year begins in August and ends in June.

- The CNG community is made up of 33 nationalities (57% Colombian, 10% U.S. citizens., 22% dual citizenship (U.S-Colombian) and 11% from other countries).

- The present enrollment is approximately of 1815 students.

- The total number of employees is 388 (Faculty: 287, Administrative support: 56 and General Services: 45).

- All CNG teachers are certified professionals (additionally, 93 hold master's degrees and 3 have doctorate degrees).

- The campus extends over 10 hectares.

- In 1961 the School was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and was also approved by the Ministry of Education. Since then, CNG has been accredited annually by SACS, and completes a self evaluation every five years.

- Pre-Ap courses are offered in 22 subjects.
